How Moto X Could succeed in India?

Moto_xYou might’ve already heard that Moto X is coming to India via Flipkart. Now, there’s no doubt that Moto G was a huge success in India. The reason of that was its price point, around 12,000 Rs that phone shows great value for money and that’s what Indian consumers look for, always. Coming back to Moto X, it could be a little tricky for Flipkart to repeat the same feat it achieved with Moto G, because of Moto X’ price. The reason is, Moto X is still available in USA for around $400 that roughly translates to 24,000 Rs. That means it’s going to be available for around 25,000 Rs in India. Which is not a good price looking at the specs of the phone. Around 25,000 Rs there are more powerful phones like Xperia Zl, Xperia ZR, Nexus 4 and even a Snapdragon 800 phone like Gionee E7 available in the market.

Moto X has the same chipset as the Xperia SP. It has Snapdragon S4 pro chipset with dual core 1.7Ghz Krait processor and Adreno 320 GPU. Moto X has 10 MP main camera with flash and 2 MP front camera with full hd video recording. Moto X’ battery is a little less than Xperia SP, it’s 2200 mAh. Moto X has 2 GB RAM while Xperia SP has 1 GB. Both are available in two variants 16 GB and 32 GB but Xperia SP has micro sd card slot while Moto X doesn’t which is a huge deal for Indian consumers and apart from that Moto X uses nano sim which could annoy some people. Now what i am trying to say here is, Xperia SP is available for around 19,000 Rs in India and if Flipkart wants Moto X to succeed in India. It needs to release the phone at around 20,000 Rs or even better, below that price point, then it might have a chance. If they release it anything above 21,000 then it could be a little problematic, it will still sell there’s no doubt about that but it won’t sell like hot jalebis like Moto G did.

One last thing Motorola is not a Google company anymore, Lenovo bought it from Google. So, even in the software department, i don’t think it’s going to get frequent software updates anymore. One good thing is it runs vanilla or stock android. So someone with a little knowledge about flashing roms could get stock android rom or any other up to date custom rom and flash it themselves.
