Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus Player launched

Nexus 6Google has launched three new Nexus devices and one of them is a TV player like Ouya and Apple TV. It’s is called Nexus player. Along with all the hardware devices Google also revealed the official name of ‘Android L’ it’s called Android Lollipop. Genius huh. Nobody would’ve thought that. I bet you. That’s what the Lollipop alongside the new Nexus 6 means in the photo above, if you were thinking something else. Just making clear. This whole Lollipop theme/name sounds kind of funky. I like it.

Nexus 6Time for some specs. Google Nexus 6 is made by Motorola and that is the reason why it looks awful lot similar to Motorola Moto X second generation. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset in other words Quad core custom made processors made by Snapdragon based on Cortex architecture can go up-to 2.7GHz and Adreno 420GPU. The biggest surprise is the screen size. Nexus 6 has a 6 inch AMOLED display of 2K(1440x2560px) resolution. I wouldn’t call it pocket friendly. But gaming on this thing could be a bliss. It has got 3GB RAM and 32/64GB storage options. Single sim(nano sim). 3220 mAh battery. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top.

It is 10.1mm thick and weighs 184 grams. 13MP auto-focus rear facing camera with optical image stabilization and dual LED flash it can also shoot 2K video. Its front camera is of 2MP. Price of Nexus 6 is not like the old Nexus devices. It is actually expensive. This time Google ain’t paying for subsidiaries people. And because of that you’ve got to pay around $600 (approx 36,000 Rupees) for 32GB version and around $700 (approx 40,000 Rupees) for 64GB version.

Although if you don’t like its big screen size and price. And still want a Nexus device then you can buy the Nexus 5 because it’s not going to get discontinued.

HTC Nexus 9Nexus 9 is a tablet made by HTC, it has 8.9 inches IPS LCD display of 1536x2048px resolution which is still 2K resolution just slightly tinkered to suit the 8.9 inch (more squarer) screen type. It comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. 2GB RAM, 16/32GB storage options. Its got a 8MP auto-focus back camera with LED flash and 1.6MP front camera. Nexus 9 runs on Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset which has Kepler GPU for mobile devices. 6,700 mAh battery. Price of 16GB wifi only Nexus 9 is around 400 Euros (approx 31,000 Rupees) and for 32GB WiFi only it is around 500 Euros(approx 35,000 Rupees) these devices are getting less and less ‘Nexusy’ in terms of price.

Nexus playerThird and the last one is Nexus player. Which comes with just 8GB internal storage and it is not expandable. Bummer. It is quite powerful though it has quad-core atom processor clocked which can go up-to 1.8GHz and Power VR series 6 GPU that is the rogue series. Which can make games fly on this thing. It has HDMI connectivity. It costs $100 and comes with a remote control as you can see in the photo above. It doesn’t comes with the controller out of the box though. That is a separate buy. Don’t expect this to launch any time soon in India.
