Sony Xperia ZR announced

xperia-zr-features-display-small

Sony announced the true younger sibling of Xperia Z with Xperia ZR. Looks like only Sony seems to understand that not everyone in this world wants a big screen phone, there are still people in this world whom wants all the high end specs in a compact more one hand-friendly package. Although it’s body is small, it’s heart is as big as any other flagship smartphone right now. By heart i mean it’s chipset and also it’s camera. If Sony is able to keep the price of this phone between 25,000 – 30,000 Indian Rupees this could become a huge hit.

Quick Specs of Sony Xperia ZR
– 4.6 inch HD 720p Display (319 ppi) with Mobile Bravia Engine 2
– Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 pro 1.5 Ghz Quadcore processor with Adreno 320 GPU
– Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with project butter
– 13MP Autofocus camera with HDR, Full HD recording, LED flash with under water recording as this device is water and dust resistant just like Xperia Z
– 2 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, upto 32 GB expandable
– IP58 certified (water and dust proof)
– 10.4mm thickness
– Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass (sensors)
– Amount of battery is not declared yet but it’s got stamina mode and my guess it would be around 2300mAh.

The only thing which i don’t like about these devices are on screen buttons, it takes up little space on the screen which makes the screen looks small. It would have been better if Sony had given us capacitive touch buttons on the free space right below the screen, but that’s just my opinion i am not nitpicking or something. This is still one hell of a device with good one hand operable compact design with high end specs. Estimated release date of this phone is around end of Second Quarter 2013. Price is not yet announced.
