HTC Desire 616 Vs The rest of the Octa-Core smartphones

HTC Desire 616 is the first true Octa Core smartphone from HTC. And it’s not that expensive either. It cost only 16,900 Rupees. Looking at the previous track record of HTC. They are used to launch such phones at much higher price than this. They said that HTC Desire 616 is aimed specifically at Asian markets. And price is the most important factor here. So they are doing something right at least.

I am going to compare HTC Desire 616 with rest of the Octa-Core smartphones that cost more or less around 20,000 Rupees. Except for the Octa-Core processor the rest of its specs are nothing special though, maybe that explains the price.

Build quality

• HTC Desire 616 is mainly made of plastic. It’s 9.2mm thick.
• Gionee Elife S5.5 is made of metal and glass with Gorilla Glass 3 in front and back. It’s 5.6mm thick.
• Micromax Canvas Knight is made of glass and metal with Gorilla Glass in front. It is 7.7mm thick.
• Micromax Canvas Gold is made of metal and glass. It is 6.9mm thick.
• Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus is made of metal and glass. It is 7.6mm thick.

Screen Quality/Size

• HTC Desire 616 comes with 5 inch HD screen, 294ppi.
• Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with 5 inch Super AMOLED display of full HD resolution, 441ppi.
• Micromax Canvas Knight comes with 5 inch full HD IPS display, 441ppi.
• Micromax Canvas Gold comes with 5.5 inch full HD LTPS LCD display, 401ppi.
• Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus comes with 5 inch IPS LCD screen of full HD resolution, 441ppi.

Processor/Chipset

• HTC Desire 616 runs on Mediatek MTK 6592 chipset which has Ouad-Core Cortex A7 processor under-clocked at 1.4GHz and Mali 450MP4 GPU.
• Gionee Elife S5.5 runs on the same Mediatek MTK 6592 chipset as Desire 616.
• New Micromax Canvas Knight comes with Mediatek MTK 6592 chipset clocked at 1.7Ghz, old one had MTK 6592T chipset clocked at 2Ghz.
• Micromax Canvas Gold runs on Mediatek MTK 6592T chipset which has Octa-Core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 2GHz and Mali 450MP GPU.
