Since Micromax Canvas Gold A300 has an octa core processor and that too clocked at 2GHz. It is supposed to perform good in benchmarks. Looking at the price it’s available at in the market. I would call it respectable. In one particular benchmark though. The GFX bench/Geekbench, it didn’t perform well. But then again it was competing with pretty high end phones in that benchmark. It still tried its best. The phone gets a warm even while running benchmarks because benchmark tests that run at full HD resolution use more resouces. Hence, more heat.Below are all the results and full phone info.

Let me tell you something first. This phone during long gaming sessions could get so hot that it could become uncomfortable to hold. Because “with great processing power comes great heat” quote said by none other than me. But seriously, i didn’t noticed it that much in Canvas Knight because it’s body or rather was made of glass not aluminium. Only place where Canvas Knight gets heated so much is the area around it’s area. But this on the other hand is all aluminium except for the front, so you can feel the heat everywhere expect for the front. It has Gorilla Glass in the front. No matter how hot the back gets. The front remains normal.
If i talk about games, this heating issue effects gaming too. Because these processors are designed such a way that if the phone’s temperature go above a certain level. They start to throttle, which effects the performance in the form of stuttering and lagging. But not much though. One game that didn’t work well on this phone GTA San Andreas, but the thing is i was running it at every setting max and at full HD resolution. why are you lying jai that canvas gold has a gorilla glass while the compan says that it doesn’t have it,micromax’s canvas knight has a gorilla glass(1.7Ghz)model but not this one.SO PLEASE DON’T LIE
That’s because the company itself isn’t even sure of the material Canvas Gold is made of. The reason, they don’t make it themselves. They just import it put their label on it and sell it for a profit. People does not care as long as they get everything in cheap.
I have used many phones, i can tell when a phone has protective glass on top. Almost all the phones made by Chinese nameless manufacturers that costs around 20,000 Rupees has Gorilla Glass or at least some kind of protective glass on top, say dragontrail. Have you ever even hold the Canvas Gold yourself?
20,000 Rupees or more is a premium price bracket not a budget or mid range when it comes to phones manufactured by small Chinese companies. And all premium Chinese Android smartphones comes with Gorilla Glass or at least some kind of protective glass.
Because the manufacturing costs are so low there, they are able to put so many things in so less in the phone. Because of the price, Canvas Gold A300 falls in the premium category and that is why it has Gorilla Glass. It’s common sense.
I give the credit where it’s due. This phone has Gorilla Glass and a great build quality, whoever built it did a great job. And it’s definitely not Micromax whom manufactured this phone, they are just selling it with their name on it. In India people know and trust Micromax because of their ‘Canvas’ phones and Micromax is using that to sell whatever they can and it is working.
I bet if a nameless small scale Chinese company was selling this phone in India no one would’ve even bothered to look at it. Let alone notice if it has Gorilla Glass or not.
I wouldn’t blame Micromax for anything though, they are giving people what they want in cheap. They are not doing anything wrong(except for the after sales service part). They saw the opportunity and grabbed it. After all it’s just business.
Nowhere on the Micromax’s website it says that “Micromax Canvas Gold A300 does not have Corning Gorilla Glass” as you have implied. They simply forgot to mention it. And if they forgot to mention something like this in their spec sheet of a phone then that is not my fault.
They never mentioned on their website that Canvas 4 have Gorilla Glass. But it does.

They are right. But too late. Since there was no other way to find out. I tried my usual hammer test on it and the glass cracked in one hammer shot as you can see in the images below.
At that time i simply didn’t know. I thought it does have gorilla glass and they forgot to mention it like they did with Canvas 4. I was wrong i guess.
It looks like i made a fool out of myself but as long as people get to know the truth, i can live with that.
i feel so sorry for you brother as you again have to suffer in micromax’s detention ward i.e. its service center because of this piece of shit,i am planning to go for xiaomi mi3 but it seems that company will not be able to establish any service center in near future,what do you suggest?
Xiaomi Mi3 is a great device. If you are sure, you won’t play ‘kushti’ with it then i would suggest you to buy it. But seriously you have to take care of it yourself since there are currently no service centers of Xiaomi in India. Maybe there is going to be some on site warranty but i am not sure. Service centers or not i would buy it though. MiUi alone is a very good reason to buy Mi3.
