Micromax Canvas A1 Unboxing

Canvas A1 BoxMicromax Canvas A1 is one of the three smartphones that is launched under the ‘Android One’ program in India. The rest two are Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno. The Android One program itself is launched in India first with more ‘develping countries’ to follow. All the phones under this program looks almost the same and have similar software & hardware specs. Especially software because its being supervised by Google itself.

Google has promised that all the phones launched under Android One program will receive Android updates for 2 years. And all the recently launched Android One smartphones will receive Android L update. Let’s talk about Micromax Canvas A1 now. I guess ‘Canvas A1’ stands for ‘Canvas Android One’ here, anyway specs wise A1 is pretty similar to Micromax Unite 2 except for smaller screen and slightly less megapixels in its camera. A1 has 4.5 inch IPS LCD display of WVGA resolution, 5 MP Autofocus rear camera and 2MP front camera, Mediatek 6582 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 4GB internal storage, 1700mAh battery, Android 4.4.4 KitKat. All the three Android One smartphones currently launched in India have same specs. And all cost just around 6,000 Rupees or $100.

Oh, and did i tell you that it comes with a free class 6 8GB micro SD card from Strontium? I don’t know about the rest of the two phones but A1 does. I think it is because they did everything right with the phone but forgot to put memory in it. It comes with just 2GB of free internal storage. Anyway, below are some shots of the phone and a unboxing video in which i briefly compared it with Nokia X2. If you have any questions, you know what to do.
