Look at this homepage, all you will see are HTC Desires. Even i’m getting bored now. Ok then, this will be the last HTC Desire unboxing, promise. At least for now. If you people thought that this phone is exactly the same as HTC Desire 616, then keep reading ’cause there’s an eye popping surprise waiting for you, inside.
This phone is not similar to HTC Desire 616, it is instead similar to HTC Desire 620G. How? You may ask. Here’s how. This phone does not have Mediatek 6752 chipset(the one inside HTC Desire 820S and HTC Desire 616) What it has under that plastic body is, the now almost two years old Mediatek 6592 Chipset. Which is not a bad chipset but the problem here is keeping the consumer in dark. As you might have seen a lot of websites wrote that this phone has Mediatek 6752 chipset but in reality it doesn’t. Here’s the thing, Mediatek 6592 and Mediatek 6752 both have octa-core processor and they are both clocked at 1.7 Ghz. It’s very confusing.
HTC itself when launched this phone just released this information “1.7GHz octa-core processor”. They never released the details about it. Hiding information from the consumer is not a good business practice, HTC. So, now except for the camera this phone is exact copy of HTC Desire 620G, couldn’t even call it a successor, HTC Desire 626 is the true successor of HTC Desire 620G.
Still, here’s a reminder of its specs, it has 5 inch HD display which is also its plus point, why is that? i will tell you in the review. 13MP rear facing camera and 5MP front facing camera both have BSI sensor and both can take full HD videos. 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. Android 4.4.2 with HTC Sense 5.3(still not full Sense UI). 2000 mAh battery. Wi-Fi direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, Dual sim(Nano sim) and as a result of not having Mediatek 6752 chipset, it doesn’t have 4G. Another bummer. The phone is very light weight though. Below are some photos and the unboxing video. Stay tuned for gaming and full review.
