So this is what was inside the black box that Nokia was teasing. A tablet. And that too a tablet based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. And it looks pretty good. It has an 7.9 inches IPS LCD display of 2K resolution with Gorilla Glass 3 and it is fully laminated(which is a big thing in India especially when it comes to mobile phones). Although it is not announced for India yet. It is announced to be available in China first at the price of $249.
Now that is a very good price roughly 15,000 Rupees. And you haven’t even seen the full specs of this device yet. So here they are. It runs on Intel Atom Z3580 64-bit processor clocked at 2.3GHz. PowerVR G6430 GPU. 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. 32GB inbuilt storage. It is made of a single piece of Aluminium. It’s only 6.9mm thick and weighs around 318 grams.
There’s more. It runs on Android 5.0 but with Nokia Z launcher on top. 8MP auto-focus rear facing camera and 5MP front facing camera. Full HD recording. It comes with dual band WiFi Bluetooth 4.0 unfortunately no SIM slot. 5300 mAh battery. And it comes with a reversible charger/slot just like Apple’s lightning connector.
According to the deal between Nokia & Microsoft. Nokia can make Tablets, apps, games. Hell it could even make TV, Fridge, Washing Machine, Tables, Ladders and Chairs, literally anything it wants except Smartphones till 31st of December 2015. But it is nice to see that Nokia is still trying to win the lost ground back in portable electronics segment.
