Flipkart has managed to snag yet another exclusive deal. This time its with Samsung. A much bigger name than Xiaomi at least for now. Samsung should know though that these kind of deals only work when the product is priced right. If they price Samsung Galaxy S5 mini anything more than 20,000 Rupees, it’s not going to sell like hot cakes.
It will sell, don’t get me wrong but just not as well as Xiaomi Mi3 or Moto G. Name alone do not sell the device now a days. Samsung Galaxy S5 mini comes with pretty mediocre specs which you could find in any India/China made phone phones except for water/dust resistance and fingerprint sensor. Or maybe if you dig deep you might even find that.
Galaxy S5 mini runs on Exynos 3 quad 3470 chipset and it is the only phone in this world right now that does so. This chipset is pretty similar to Mediatek MTK6572 both includes quadcore Cortex A7 processor and Mali 400MP GPU, only difference is Mediatek MTK6582 is usually clocked at 1.3 GHz and Exynos 3 quad 3470 is clocked at 1.4GHz. Not much of a difference but still better than Snapdragonn 400 if you ask me.
Other than that it comes with 4.5 inches Super AMOLED display of HD resolution. It is 9.1mm thick and weight 120 grams. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with TouchWiz UI on top. 1.5GB RAM and 16GB on board memory expandable up-to 64GB. For camera it has 8MP auto-focus primary camera with LED flash it can shoot video up-to 1080p and a 2.1MP front camera that can also shoot full HD video.
Connectivity portion is covered with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE, NFC(only with LTE models), infrared port. It comes in both versions dual-sim and single-sim. I suppose the one that Flipkart is going to sell is going to be the dual-sim one. Battery capacity of S5 mini is 2100 mAh. Official price is not yet announced but looking at the specs above despite of not being much powerful i think Samsung is still going to price it more than 25,000 Rupees(prove me wrong Samsung).
You can buy it right now if you want, it is currently available on eBay for around Rs 33,000. Since it is an imported item you wont get any warranty with it only 3 months seller warranty as stated on the page, so buy it at your own risk. But if that price is anything to go buy, my hopes of it being available at a cheaper price just got shattered.
