Samsung’s newest announcement Galaxy Grand 2 (updated)

samsung galaxy grand 2Samsung just announced the successor of it’s immensely popular smartphone, especially in India, Galaxy Grand. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 will be a worthy update over its predecessor only if Samsung gets the price right. Because by looking at the specs it looks like any other Chinese/Indian branded quad-core smartphones available in India right now. It has nothing which isn’t already available in the market and that too at very affordable prices. Samsung official reveal page states that it now consists of a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon or Mediatek not mentioned yet. Android 4.3 JellyBean, a slightly bigger 5.25 inches HD display. Other than that it has 2600mAh battery, 8GB internal storage expandable upto 64GB, 1.5GB RAM. Price and availability is not yet announced but if i have to to put a price on the phone according to its specs, then i would say around 20,000 – 21,000 Rupees(Maximum).

Update: So in almost an hour long live-stream-launch of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, the thing that they didn’t reveal is the price, which was a total bummer. They did say in the end that it will be around 22,900 – 24,900 Rupees but according to them that is not the final price, i think what they were talking about is the MRP. So, obviously the final price will be lower than that, exactly like i predicted around 21,000 Rs. It will be available in the market of India in the first week of January. So, eventually we will know the exact price then. When asked about the processor the Samsung’s executive answered that it is a “Quadcore Qualcomm processor” so it could be the Snapdragon 200 processor with Adreno 302 GPU. Which is quite weak for the price.
