Micromax Canvas Knight performed really well in benchmarks. To tell you exactly how well, let me tell you that it even beat Samsung Galaxy S4 in Antutu, don’t believe me? See for yourself in the screenshots below. Maybe Antutu is optimized for this chipset. The rest of the benchmarks were just average. Although these benchmarks don’t mean much yet because none of them is programmed to utilize each of the 8 cores available inside the Micromax Canvas Knight. I don’t think any of the benchmarks are fully designed yet to use the new Mali 450GPU either. In 3DMark which is mainly a gaming or GPU benchmark. Micromax Canvas Knight is the first octa core phone from Micromax. Honestly i bought this phone just to satisfy that itch of using an octa core phone. After all they are all the rage these days. It runs on Mediatek MTK 6592 processor clocked at 2 Ghz(Maximum) and Mali 450MP GPU, unlike previous Mediateks chipsets that had Power VR SGX GPUs which was a better choice in my opinion. But, anyway who cares about my opinion. The chipset seems quite powerful theoretically but only the real world tests will tell us about its potential.
Micromax MAD app that comes with Micromax MAD phone currently is an app which gives you point for using the AD feature of Micromax. Confused? Well don’t worry i am here to tell you exactly how it works and how can you use to points to get recharge. Currently it only gives Talktime recharge in turn for points. If it will give something else in return like website coupons or not we will see that in future but right now for collecting points you can only get a recharge.
Benchmark performance of Samsung Galaxy grand is pretty average as you’d expect from a mid ranger. Benchmarks fluctuates a lot during the GPU test, but that is expected because of its weak GPU. For 22,990 Rupees you are getting a very average GPU i.e, Adreno 305 but a very good HD display. Seriously the processor doesn’t do justice to the display. It deserves better. The phone lags in general anyway mainly due to weak processor and on top of that heavy customization of Android OS. Even 1.5GB of RAM couldn’t help it that much, because more than half of the RAM is consumed by the OS itself leaving very less for apps.
Samsung Galaxy Grand was such a successful phone. You know why? Because it was the first smartphone or first affordable smartphone with a 5 inch screen from an international brand like Samsung. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 on the other hand has no such advantage. Although it has bigger 5.25 inches HD screen but except for that, it’s actually even inferior than the phones that are already available in the market at much lower prices. The only thing which is worth its price tag is the beautiful 720p HD screen by Samsung. I am quite surprised by the quality of the display actually. I have never used a Galaxy phone before maybe that’s why i am feeling surprised.
Just after CES, Sony has announced two new Xperia phone. One very small and one very big, just like the name of Sony’s own video game, Little Big Planet. They could have announced them at CES after all they deserve the limelight. The picture you are seeing above is of the biggie named Xperia T2 Ultra(when did they launch T1?), the main unique selling point of this phone is its big 6 inches HD Triluminous display.
Have you seen any cricket match lately on TV in India? Did you notice that Micromax is currently running a campaign about one of it’s new phones. This phone is not released or even announced yet but Micromax is advertising it with a tagline which says “Mad about ads?”. So out of curiosity, i dig a little here and there on the internet, and i now finally know what this phone and tagline is about.
